#BandLife Q&A: The Beresfords

We have been having an amazing time listening to all the great bands in York Region throughout the York Region Festival Trail. Check out the Q&A we did with The Beresfords – a brother and sister country music duo from Aurora.

Name of Band: The Beresfords

Number of years active:  4

Genre of music played:  Country

Band mates and instruments played:  Shannon Beresford – vocals, acoustic guitar; Brendan Beresford – vocals, electric guitar

What’s on your current playlist? Space Cowboy – Kacey Musgraves, The Nashville Sound – album by Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, The Middle – Zedd, Maren Morris & Grey, Wrapped – George Strait

What are your favourite venues to perform in York Region? The Duchess of Markham, The Earl of Whitchurch, Markham Village Music Festival, Taste of Stouffville

Do you have a pre-gig tradition? If so, do tell. Not really, we usually like to just hang out with the band and jam before going up on stage.

What’s it like managing multiple opinions, styles or ideas? It’s actually really fun. We have been really fortunate to be surrounded by incredibly talented and supportive people that are always open to sharing and expressing their opinions and contributing to the end results.

How do you resolve creative differences and avoid a meltdown? We usually just take a step back and go to separate rooms and come back when we’ve come up with something individually. Then we regroup and try to put together the pieces we’ve come up with. So far, it’s worked out for us.

The Beresfords played at York Region Festival Trail events including the Markham Village Music Festival and will be at this weekend’s Taste of Stouffville taking place August 25th.
