Nokiida Trail

“Nokiidaa” is an Ojibwa term meaning “walking Together”.

The Nokiidaa Trail is a 20-km (12.4-mile) multi-use trail that follows the East Holland River from Aurora to Holland Landing. The trail runs through three municipalities – Aurora, Newmarket and East Gwillimbury – and contains links to many nearby trail systems, including the Oak Ridges Trail.

The trail links some of the most popular natural heritage destinations in York Region – including Rogers Reservoir, Fairy Lake, Sheppard’s Bush and Mabel Davis conservation areas – all of which are well suited for discovering local flora and fauna. It connects riverside parklands with green spaces, wetlands and cultural heritage sites. The majority of the terrain is flat and trail surfaces vary between natural, stone chip and rigid.

The trail is maintained by the Towns of Aurora, Newmarket and East Gwillimbury, York Region and the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority.
