Ruth’s Chris Steak House Opens in Markham
Markham, are you ready for the sizzle? Ruth’s Chris Steak House opened at 170 Enterprise Blvd at Birchmount Rd. in Downtown Markham, next to the Marriott Markham Hotel. Experience York Region had the chance to sit down with Lana Duke, co-franchisee, to learn more about the story behind the steak.
The new location is beautiful, and includes a wide comfortable bar, various dining areas that can easily be converted into private dining spaces, private nooks for two, and a stunning room dubbed the Carousel room – with floor to ceiling glass overlooking the Pride of Canada Carousel. All 7,632 square foot of the space was designed by HCA Architecture of Toronto. Throughout the restaurant, you will find the recognizable red hue that is linked so intrinsically to the Ruth’s Chris brand.
Lana’s son, R. David Duke, is the co-franchisee of the location and has this to say:
“We’re delighted to open in Markham as a key location serving the north eastern quadrant of the GTA. We will uphold our simple tried-and-true recipe: fresh ingredients, classic dishes, skilled preparation and a passion for every detail of a perfect dining experience. Add to that, the gorgeous interior ambiance design of our newest Ruth’s Chris, and our diners are in for a real treat.”
Lana Duke’s path led her from St. Catharine’s Ontario, to meeting the Ruth, Ruth Fertel, in Louisiana when she knocked on her door to sell her advertising space in a local newspaper. Lana subsequently started her own advertising agency and Ruth became one of her biggest clients. The two soon formed a friendship and business relationship that would span 20 years. Lana eventually purchased Ruth’s Chris franchises with the intention of bringing one back to Canada, her birthplace. There are now three locations across Canada and at each, diners can expect an elevated experience.
As a noted philanthropist, Lana let us know that “At our Grand Opening, we’ve continued to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, and know our dinner guests demonstrated their financial support of this worthy organization.”
Markham residents can expect wonderful hospitality, as well as the signature 500-degree sizzling plates bearing delicious steaks and fine wines.
