1st Anniversary Scholarship Gala: Igniting the Future

Event Description

The Newmarket African Caribbean Canadian Association (NACCA), cordially invites you to attend our 1st annual Still We Rise Gala in support of post-secondary education and youth and family initiatives in our community. This year, the theme of our Gala will revolve around the stories of resilience, determination, and grit that grow from the hardships we endure — a theme often lived in the community we serve.

The event will feature inspiring speakers, great music by DJ Eugene of PsychoSoul, entertainer Jon Leesoun, a cash bar, a silent auction, door prizes, and more!

How Your Support Makes a Difference

NACCA is an unincorporated non-profit organization which operates in the Town of Newmarket. As a full-fledged community-based organization, NACCA organizes and facilitates:

• Programs for all youth that serve to share, educate and celebrate black history.

• Programs that promote intercultural understanding and strengthen our community.

• Opportunities for leadership development and civic engagement.

• Initiatives that support post-secondary education for youth and low-income families.

On May 11th, 2019, NACCA will host its 1st annual fundraising gala so that we can continue to support our mandate to drive diversity and inclusion in our community, create limitless possibilities for professional development and advancement, and connect families to resources, networks and opportunities. We are committed to doing our part by providing the highest quality programs and opportunities to benefit minorities in our community.

Our goal is to raise $10,000. 80% will go directly into our scholarship fund and 20% will help to supplement program initiatives like health education, trips to historical heritage sites, workshops, skills and talent development, and so much more.
