Event Description

Toronto Concert Orchestra (TCO) celebrates the 250th anniversary of Beethoven! Under the guiding hand of Maestro Vincent Cheng, TCO performs Fidelio Overture, Violin Concerto in D Major, featuring solo violinist Markham’s prodigy Mercedes Cheung, and Beethoven’s beloved Symphony No. 5 in C Minor.

Cheng first established himself as a prominent accompanist in Toronto as associate organist at St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica, principal organist/music director at St. Rose of Lima and St. Luke churches, and orchestral pianist/assistant conductor/chorus master for the Toronto Philharmonic. Mentored by internationally-recognized conductor and TCO music director, Kerry Stratton, Cheng is also an avid arranger and composer for the orchestra and choir. Mercedes Cheung has already performed on the international music scene, including her Carnegie Hall debut recital in 2012, where she featured the complete Paganini’s 24 Caprices at the age of 10.
