Event Description

New Orleans is a musical melting pot that’s been cooking up music royalty for nearly a century. At its mid-winter Markham performance, the renowned New Orleans Jazz Orchestra (NOJO) led by percussionist and Artistic Director Adonis Rose will reflect on the wide-ranging influence of the Big Easy’s own Allen Toussaint, the legendary composer, singer, pianist, and producer. Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, Toussaint influenced decades of musicians, bands, composers and listeners worldwide. NOJO has an ever-growing repertoire that exemplifies the influence of jazz as the grandfather of all modern American music. Headlining all of America’s major performing arts venues and clubs and earning a Grammy® Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble, this 18-piece jazz band is an absolute must see!
