Aurora Community Arboretum

The Aurora Community Arboretum Inc. (ACA or the Aurora Arboretum) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the creation and maintenance of an arboretum for Aurora and surrounding areas. It is managed by its members through a Board of Directors. Many members and volunteers help to regularly maintain the Arboretum with assistance from Town of Aurora Parks staff and various professional contractors.

The ACA is 100 acres of Town of Aurora parkland between Wellington Street to the south and St John’s Sideroad to the north along the valley of the East Holland River. Industrial Parkway North partially borders it to the west.

There are over 10 km of trails, 5 ponds and the Holland River runs through the centre of the park. There is a meadow in the north, forests, wetlands and the specimen tree area where commemorative trees can be seen.

Over 60 species of birds have been spotted in the Arboretum, some calling it home, others just stopping by!

Over 100 types of wildflowers can be found throughout the summer and over 500 different tree species/varieties are always on display.

Visit the Arboretum’s “Field of Gold” in late April/early May where over 10,000 daffodils are on display. Visit our ‘Flora Aurora’ area of the Arboretum in spring-summer to enjoy over 350 different flowering shrubs and trees. Not all flower at the same time so there is always something new to see. Late summer and fall provides colourful foliage.

The ACA is open all year round and is “Aurora’s Urban Oasis”.

Several parking lots and access points allow for entry to various parts of the Arboretum. To learn where they are as well as various trails and feature areas, download a detailed map by visiting our website www.auroraarboretum.ca
