Theme Annoucnement – 2025 Art Exhibition for PRIDE
The King Heritage & Cultural Centre is pleased to announce the theme for its second PRIDE art exhibition: "TODAY WE SLAY!"
The Call to Artists will open in January 2025 for an exhibition scheduled for May 17 to July 12, 2025. This exhibition is open to emerging and established 2SLGBTQI+ artists and allies.
Defined as “looking self-confidently good, acting in a self-empowered way, or doing something spectacular, especially in the face of some challenge”, the term slay was adopted by the LGBTQ+ community in the 1980s and has gained momentum every since.
This exhibition theme encourages artists to celebrate their PRIDE through art - be BOLD, be PLAYFUL, be SELF-CONFIDENT, be SELF-EMPOWERED, be SPECTACULAR - and show how you SLAY!
