Last-minute suggestions for that special Valentine in your life

Valentine’s Day is only a few days away, so I’m sure you’ve already found that perfect gift for that special someone. BUT – if you’re having a hard time nailing down that gift that will really top last year’s, or perhaps V-Day just seemed to sneak up on you in 2022, we have put together a list of some wonderful last minute gift ideas that are both creative and won’t break the bank!

If you feel like you’ve overdone the material gifts and are looking for a more intimate, meaningful gift, couple’s dance classes are a great experience that you can share with your partner. From ballroom to salsa lessons, depending on yours and your S/O’s style, there are so many options of invigorating dance classes that will get you moving together and connecting in a new, exciting way. Soul2Sole Latin Dance Company is a great option that offers adult dance classes, with locations in Woodbridge and Richmond Hill.

Perhaps you are looking to surprise the special lady or man in your life with a one-of-a-kind outing, but everything seems so out of reach or too far from home. Look no further than a visit to the Holland Marsh Winery in Newmarket. Book a winery tour or wine tasting for a fun adventure and an even greater memory to share together. A visit to this local winery is a chance for you and your Valentine to dress up and enjoy a day outside of your usual routine, without having to travel too far away from home!

A standard Valentine’s Day gift usually includes a box of chocolates and a bouquet of flowers. And while there’s nothing wrong with this thoughtful sentiment, perhaps you just feel you’ve overdone the flowers and chocolates. If your partner has a green thumb, why not opt for a succulent or small house plant instead? In addition to them being totally in right now when it comes to home decor, they can stand for a symbol of your long-lasting love, blooming just like your relationship. Check out your local flower shop or grocery store, and for an even more ‘appropriate’ type of succulent, check your local garden centre for the heart-shaped Hoya Kerrii plant.

A truly romantic experience that is always a great go-to for Valentine’s Day gifts is a couples spa treatment, such as a couples massage package. It’s a great opportunity to relax and recharge, to have time away from the stresses of everyday life and enjoy some down time together. Sante Spa and Salt Cave in Thornhill is a choice spa destination with a stunning salt cave you and your S/O can reap many benefits from. With a number of great couples packages, the gift of a spa treatment is a gift that shows you care about the health and well being of your partner.

An inexpensive and sometimes forgotten treat for you and your Valentine is a trip to the local ice rink. With the temperatures on the verge of getting warmer, an ice skating date this Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to take advantage of the winter wonderland we have been blessed with in 2022. Many local ice rinks offer free entry or entry at a very low cost, just be sure to check your local rink for COVID-19 booking schedules prior to venturing out. Get bundled up and enjoy a free skate hand in hand with your love this V-Day!

We hope this list sparks some ideas if you’re in need of a last minute gift this Valentine’s Day. And don’t forget that homemade gifts are always a great option – so check out your local craft or D-I-Y store for workshops or craft kits to do with your loved ones!
